When the weather turns warm, crops of fresh fruits and vegetables appear at farmers' markets all around the country. A visit to your local outdoor market is a great way to introduce your children to a variety of produce, while also getting out for some fresh air. Allow the kids to help you select the fruits and vegetables. Make a game out of finding every color of the rainbow among the produce. Older children might enjoy squeezing (gently!) or smelling the fruits and veggies to determine which ones are ripe. Once you're finished shopping, head home to prepare a farmers' market feast, or lay out a blanket for a picnic lunch. Just make sure to wash all of the produce beforehand.
