Family Time Calendar: Feeling Listless?

Making the shopping list every week (or every day if you're like some of us who never remember to bring it with us) is a bore. Add a little excitement to the process and get your kids involved.

What you'll need:

  • Paper (1 piece for you, 1 for each of the kids)
  • Pens, crayons or markers

What you'll do:

Where you write apple on your list, the children draw one on theirs. Older kids can learn how to spell the words. Younger kids who don't yet draw or write realistically can get their own pad and pen and make up their own scribbled list. Soon they'll be "writing" just like you. It may seem simple, but the experts would consider this kind of prewriting an important developmental milestone. Who knew?
