Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP)

The K.I.S.S. Guide to Cat Care

Next to panleukopenia, FIP is the biggest cause of death by infectious disease in cats, mainly infecting kittens and young cats. No vaccine existed until 1990. But there is still a lot of controversy about whether the vaccine that is currently available actually provides protection from this disease. Since the vaccine has not yet been proven beneficial, the panel does not recommend routinely administering this vaccine. If you keep your cat indoors exclusively and never bring another cat into the home, there is no danger of contracting this disease.
