Fergie has been with Josh Duhamel for nine years, despite a tabloid cheating scandal that threatened to wreck their marriage. For the first time, the Black Eyed Peas singer is opening up (to Oprah Winfrey, naturally) about how her relationship survived. Watch the clip below, from Sunday's episode of Oprah's Next Chapter!
In 2009, less than a year after Fergie and Duhamel said "I do," an Atlanta stripper came forward claiming a one-night stand with the actor. While Duhamel adamantly denied the affair, Fergie told Oprah that the media attention took its toll.
"It was difficult," Fergie admitted to the TV legend.
However, in the long run, Fergie said that scandal "definitely" helped the couple to re-evaluate and strengthen their relationship.
"When you go through difficult times, it really makes you stronger as a unit, as a partnership. It does for us, anyways. Our love today is a deeper love, definitely," said the singer. "We're stronger today because of anything difficult that's happened with us. We deal with it, we communicate; communicating's the most important thing."
There was no shortage of scandalous topics for Oprah to cover with the musician, who started out as a child actress on the TV series Kids Incorporated. In a promo for the interview, Oprah can be seen asking Fergie about her past crystal meth abuse, her lesbian relationships and the potential break-up of the Black-Eyed Peas. (She has also admitted to making sex tapes with Duhamel, but we don't know if Oprah got around to that particular topic.) Watch the preview below:
