Fertilize New Trees

When planting trees, do you recommend adding fertilizer in the dirt around the roots, and if so, what type? We are going to plant some fir, apple and evergreen trees.

Question:

If you ask five different gardeners this question, you'll get five different answers. If I mix together my soil mixture first of part peat, part organic matter and part top soil, and shovel that on top of the roots in the digging hole, I use nothing else.

But, if I don't have time to mix those ingredients, I will use a B vitamin root mix or something called root booster. Any ingredient that promises extra strong root growth for newly planted trees will do. Follow instructions on back of label.
