The film: 'The Devil Wears Prada' (2006)

Why we weren’t thrilled: Imagine our dismay when we learned a size zero is the new two and a size six is the new eight! In one scene, Andy (Anne Hathaway) tells Emily (Emily Blunt) she looks really thin as they arrive at a fashion gala. With a smug sense of satisfaction, Emily replies, “I started a new diet. You see I don’t eat anything at all, and then just before I think I’m about to faint, I eat a cube of cheese.”

Lesson learned: Emily's emphasis on deprivation reinforces the notion that women need to abstain from food to be attractive.

We're much bigger fans of this next film, which encourages women to accept themselves as they are and tells them not to change a thing...
