Finding the Time to Shower

When there’s a baby in the house, you can spend your whole day playing, feeding, changing and cleaning only to realize that it’s almost 5:00 in the afternoon and you haven’t had a shower yet. How can you watch your child while you’re in the shower? Unless you have someone else to help you, getting in to the shower can seem like quite a challenge. Here experienced moms share their tips for bathing while making sure that baby is safe.

The Dilemma
"If you're at home during the day with your kids, with no one else home, how do you find time to take a shower? I either get up with the chickens and take one before son wakes up, or wait until the afternoon when my husband gets home (but I hate for him to come home to a sweaty, flat-haired, no-make-up wearing creature)."

Make Use of Nap Time
"I usually shower during my daughter’s morning nap. She normally stays down for two hours, so I have plenty of time to dry my hair, put on my face and get dressed. Thank goodness for naps (while they last anyway!).

Bring Your Child In the Shower
"My son showers with me all the time. We started doing it when he was about seven or eight months. I have a hand-held shower massage and we sit in the tub together and clean up. He likes to play in the water stream so much that he stays distracted and clean up is a snap."
