Finding the Time to Shower

If The Shower Won’t Work
"I have tried to take my daughter in the shower with me but she screams the whole time. So now I bring her and a couple of toys in the bathroom and shut the door. She will play on the floor with her toys while I shower. I poke my head out to talk to her and check up on her. (My bathroom is totally secure with cabinet and toilet locks.)"

"I have completely baby-proofed my children’s rooms, so when it’s time for me to shower I usually put up a baby gate to keep them in their room. They have buckets of toys that I rotate so they are entertained. Then I take a quick shower--it is not ideal, but it gets the job done."

Enlist Barney’s Help
"If I absolutely have to shower when the boys are up and around, I put in their favorite Barney tape. This gives me 20 minutes or so to rinse off and change clothes (mine are now 19 months)."

Different Things Will Work at Different Times
"I do different things with my 11-month-son: sometimes I bring him in the bathroom with me, give him some toys and close the door (it has been baby-proofed). Our shower has a glass door so I can see him and he can see me. Some days I bring him in the shower with me. Still he screams and cries through most of it. So other days I just wait until my husband gets home. Sorry I'm not more help but I just wanted you to know you're not alone, you sweaty, flat-haired, no make-up creature."
