FIV-Positive Cats

iVillagers Ask

What do you recommend for my two FIV-positive cats that are not yet symptomatic?
--iVillager brednakaye6

Dr. Messonnier says:
1. I use a natural diet

2. Minimal to no vaccines

3. No new cats in the house

4. Keep your cats indoors

5. Use proprietary compounds containing medicinal mushrooms and herbs such as astragalus and red clover. Glycoproteins may also be helpful, especially when the cats become ill.

Regular dental cleanings and aggressive therapy of infections is also important.

Good luck -- most of these cats live many years if cared for properly!
