Inspirational ideas on turning your bedroom into a love nest with help from HGTV star and author Chris Casson Madden
Interior designer Karen Houghton and her husband, Michael's, timelessly serene bedroom is filled with a mixture of antique finds along with those she inherited from her parents. Their twentieth-century Swedish country bed is dressed with an array of textiles, including an antique French Boutis quilt of gold-colored silk and a white matelasse coverlet. Karen has deliberately kept to a warm, earthy palette with touches of gilt (a surface covered in gold). At the foot of the bed, a papered box, a gout stool, an antique tooled metal-and-wood document box, and a nineteenth-century Anglo-Indian camphor-wood box are stacked atop one another. "My boxes and baskets offer perfect storage for many of my collections," she says.
