The Fix: Dress Sophisticated and Sexy (Not Trampy)

Although summer style calls for less fabric, that doesn't mean you can't stay classy

The Problem
Hey, I’m Lena, and I was wondering if you have any ideas on how to sophisticate your casual clothing. I'm in my 20's and I want to get a new sophisticated style and still be able to look sexy (but not trampy).

The Fix
A slim cut or fitted blazer is the ultimate fix. Not only is it stylish and will give you great shape, but it will dress up jeans or any outfit for that matter. It can also take you from day to night. Wear it over a summer dress or jeans and a tank, add a long chunky necklace and a pair of heels -- high-heel peep-toe shoes and wedges are cute and sexy for summer and make your legs look longer especially when worn with skinny jeans -- and you’re good to go.

If you’re more comfortable wearing flats, look for those that reveal toe cleavage or wear sandals with a pedicure. Like bags, they are more festive in fun colors or finishes like gold or silver, in patterns like animal prints or when embellished with details like gems or bows.

For a sexy look, jeans should be fitted, but that doesn’t mean overly tight though. You want to feel good in them, not fat! The darker the denim, the dressier, although white jeans are a fresh summer look. You want your pants to hug your curves, not squeeze.

To dress jeans up for a party, a pretty blouse that is fitted (not tight) or one that shows off some skin will work. Off-the-shoulder necklines are sexy, as well as a lacy cami worn under a deep V-neck sweater or a blouse in a semi-sheer material -- these are also very feminine.

Also keep in mind, accessories -- shoes, bags, jewelry -- express mood and style. When it comes to jewelry, faux is fabulous. Choose one statement piece -- the bigger the better! Multi-strands of long necklaces, chunky chokers, bold rings and dangling earrings are also great options.
