Dear Martha:
We parents sometimes jump through hoops to get our kids to eat the foods we think they should have. Often that means adding enhancers such as chocolate and sugar. In my opinion, if a little sugar or flavoring helps them consume important nutrients they wouldn't otherwise get, then it does more good than harm. But you need to be judicious. Flavored milk is certainly a nutritious sweet. Balance it out by not offering low-nutrient sweets and limiting the sugar in other parts of their diet.
