There are plenty of hair products that claim to promote gorgeous locks but what you eat is really at the root of it all. Certain nutrients in your diet can ensure not only a healthy body, but also a healthy scalp -- which is where a good-looking head of hair begins. Fish like salmon, halibut and sardines are packed with nutrients that deliver beauty benefits like omega3s. "Miss out on omega-3s and prepare for a dry scalp, and dry, dull hair," says Maggie Moon, corporate nutritionist for New York City online-grocer FreshDirect.com.

"Omega-3 fatty acids help keep the scalp healthy, reduce inflammation and support strong hair follicles, which makes hair look fuller," Cynthia Sass, a New York City-based nutritionist, explains. If you're vegetarian, get your dose of omega-3s from flax seed, walnuts and pumpkin seeds.
