Food Holidays to Celebrate All Year Long

Chef Yvan D. Lemoine, author of Food Fest 365, thinks that we should be doing way more food-based celebrating.  According to Lemoine, every day of the year is a national food holiday, celebrating everything from Peking Duck (January 8) to Tapioca Pudding (June 28).

Lemoine has organized Food Fest 365 into daily recipes highlighting that particular day's celebrated dish. The year is bookended with cocktail recipes, December 31 being Champagne Day and January 1, Bloody Mary Day. The rest of the year is a wild mix of sweets, savories and everything in between, from Pineapple Upside-Down Cake (April 20) to Corned Beef Hash (September 27), Quiche Lorraine (May 20), and even Spumoni (August 22).

Aside from being a cookbook, Food Fest 365 is a reason to celebrate, whether you are hosting a Harvey Wallbanger Day cocktail party (don't forget to mark your calenders, it's celebrated on November 8) or breaking out the chips and guac for Chip and Dip Day on March 23.

While we probably won't be getting time off from work for any of the food holidays mentioned in Food Fest 365, we will definitely be testing out some of Lemoine's eclectic recipes, including Ovaltine Ice Cream, perfect for Creative Ice Cream Flavor Day (July 1), and Cake Doughnuts with Maple Bacon Glaze for Doughnut Day (October 30).
