Ice cream cones and cocktails are two of the most enjoyable parts of summer, so why not bring them together? We're noticing a slew of spiked ice cream flavors lately -- here are some of the most interesting flavors out there.
Silver Moon, a California-based company that specializes in liquor-infused frozen desserts, has created an entire line of fruity cocktail sorbets including Mango Mimosa, Lavender Limoncello and Mojito Ice. Philadelphia's Capogiro Gelato makes summery Grapefruit Campari and Strawberry Tequila sorbets.
If a cold beer is more your style, there are quite a few breweries and creameries teaming up this summer for some thrilling beer-ice cream combos. Pennsylvania's Victory Brewing Company is incorporating their Belgain-style Golden Monkey into a banana-flavored ice cream with peanuts and caramel, and swirling their hoppy HopDevil beer into a cayenne-cinnamon ice cream with chocolate-covered coffee beans.
And if you're adept with the ice cream maker, all sorts of malty, hoppy treats can be yours. Take a look at this recipe for Brown Ale and Buckwheat Honey Ice Cream for some inspiration.
For those of you who prefer nothing more than a stem of something light and refreshing on a hot summer's day, there are plenty of wine-based ice creams and sorbets to choose from. Gelato and sorbet company Ciao Bella makes a fruity blackberry-cabernet sorbet. Mercer's Wine Ice Cream comes in several tempting flavors such as Peach White Zinfandel, Cherry Merlot and Red Raspberry Chardonay. And Glace de Vino makes Strawberry Cream Chardonnay, Raspberry Merlot Cheesecake and Chocolate Cabernet Sauvignon ice creams.
Perhaps the zaniest boozy ice cream comes from the buzzed-about San Francisco ice creamery Humphry Slocombe. One of their most popular spiked flavors, "Secret Breakfast," is a blend of bourbon-flavored ice cream and crunchy corn flakes. We'll raise a glass -- er, spoon to that!
