It seems as if Troy Aikman didn't get the memo on how Dancing With the Stars works. The former Dallas Cowboy may have inadvertently revealed some top-secret information about the upcoming season of the dancing competition, when he kind of blabbed to the press that he would be one of the new contestants. Aikman told the paparazzi Wednesday night that he would, literally, be following in the footsteps of past NFL Hall of Famers Michael Irvin and Emmitt Smith on the reality show.
Whoops! ABC was undoubtedly irked by the leak of the possible casting news, as the network does its best to keep cast lists confidential until they rack up a ton of publicity for the big reveal -- which is probably what led Aikman to backtrack on Thursday.
"I will not be on DWTS…interferes with American Idol auditions," he quipped on his Twitter page.
Predictably, ABC is not commenting on the Aikman gossip or any other DWTS-related news, so we'll just have to wait to see if the footballer will be in contention for that big, shiny disco ball.
