Bottled water is safe to use when preparing formula. The formula contains all the nutrients necessary for the baby, so what is or is not in the water, from a mineral, vitamin standpoint, is not important.

Bottled water will give you the added security of knowing you are serving a safe water, free of toxins that may be in home water due to old pipes, or a poor water treatment facility or ground-water contaminants from a well.

You can save the expense of using bottled water if you have your tap water tested and find it is perfectly safe for baby. Check your yellow pages under water analysis to find a local company that will perform a test of your water.

Bottled water is not fluoridated so if you continue to give your baby bottled water even after weaning, then you may want to speak with your pediatrician about fluoride supplements.
