According to California Apparel News, over 50% of U.S. women wear size 14 or larger, with over 30% wearing a size 16 and above.
But, although they are a large portion of the population, these plus-size women only account for about 25% of women's apparel sales.2
Over 60% of American women wear a size 14 or larger; yet, this larger-sized buyer only contributes about $21 billion (25%) of the $84 billion women's apparel market.3
