4pm Wedding!!!!!

What should I wear to a 4pm wedding with a reception that follows into the evening?

Tricky things to consider:
I will have no time to change between events;
Both wedding and reception are indoors at separate locations;
My BF is IN the wedding party and will be dressed appropriately; and
I am meeting my BFs family and friends for the 1st time!

I've asked my BF a million questions, but he just doesn't understand the complexity of the situation. What colors are ok? What styles? Ugh!!! HELP!

Thanks!

First of all...hi, I'm a newbie to this board. Been lurking for a little while. I'm Kell, 21yrs old from Minnesota.

For an afternoon/evening wedding, I would say you can never go wrong in a little black dress. I actually have a wedding to go to this weekend, and I just went out and bought a black haltertop dress, and black shoes. Simple, yet elligent, and can also be worn again and dressed up or down.

Hope I helped a little. Good luck in shopping!

The last wedding that I went to was also at 4 pm, and I wore a white and pink striped searsucker suit. Cropped pants and 3/4 jacket with a green and pink cami underneath. I guess it would depend on where the reception is held, but I agree that a black dress would be good.

I agree with Kelly, basic black is always good. If you want to add some color you can use a blazer or shawl in a color that compliments you. (I love that shawls are back in style!) If you go with a halter style you can also try one of the shrug style jackets, making sure the back of the dress is high enough to be under the shrug. If it's not a real formal wedding you can go with a dressy capri outfit, or slacks.

Have a great time!

Thanks for the advice gals! I know this is old-fashined, but I was under the impression that I should never wear black to a wedding! Knowing that I can makes things a lot easier!

Now for a little online "window shopping" -- hehe, a new twist on an old phrase!

You can for sure wear black to a wedding. However, an old fashion rule that is still in is that you should never wear white (unless you're the bride that is.)

Have fun shopping!
