Okay so this is a matter that can make me crazy .... and when I came across this article I had to share. http://shine.yahoo.com/beauty/59-age-women-stop-wearing-red-lipstick-heavy-170100758.html

What age do you consider it time to stop certain things?

My absolute FAVORITE part of your post...

Hooray for you... and I hope others realize just how powerful that little accessory called confidence can be, to women of all ages!

I guess on the one hand, we should be glad these British women are pegging 59 as the age, and not 39.  Maybe we have made a *little* progress.

What you wear should at all times reflect a YES answer to these questions:  does it look good on you?  does it make you feel good?  If so - go for it!

I'm 50, and there are things I gave up some time ago:  bright lipstick (too unnatural looking - I'm past the age where I should look like I'm experimenting), eyeliner under the eyes (makes older eyes look droopy) but still on the upper lids, and green/blue/purple eyeshadow.  I gave up anything that exposed my midriff after I had my third baby at age 37.  I gave up anything really tight about 5 years ago - better to go with something less clingy and more flattering as my waist got thicker in my late 40s.  I haven't worn a real miniskirt since I turned 40, but I do wear above-the-knee styles when I'm dressing up since I still have great legs.  I gave up gray hair at 42, and I am not going back to that for MANY years!

I think about what I've *added* too!  GREAT accessories - jewelry, shoes, bags - things I couldn't afford when I was younger and get compliments on daily.  I've added fun-color nail polish because I take care of my hands.  And I've added confidence, which allows you to carry off all kinds of things, like blue hair or red lipstick or green fingernails or miniskirts, if that's what you want!

Ha! I'm not giving up anything that I think looks good on me, until I get darn good and ready! Tongue Out

Seriously, I see lots of older women who still rock red lipstick, heels and fake nails and they look darn good! Ok, so I don't wear mid-drift tops, skinny jeans or a few other fashion trends, but it has less to do with my age than the fact that I'm just not comfortable in those styles. Fake nails... crazy long ones look silly on anyone, imo, but hey... that's a personal choice. I wear french tips a lot and like the look.

My philosophy -- Go with what you like, what you feel good in and celebrate the age you're at in the moment!
