Backpacks at the office

Hi everyone,
I've noticed an increasing trend lately whereby younger professional men and women (i.e. recent college grads and such) carry their belongings to work in backpacks, instead of suitcases, tote bags, etc. Are you noticing this too?
Call me an oldhead, but it just looks too casual for an office, no matter how convenient or expensive they may be.
Chris

They might be convenient, but I'm with you, they don't look all that professional to me. I guess if you carry a laptop back and forth it works better than an attache case, but totes are better for your back. There have been studies done that show backback, especially when you don't use them properly, can cause back issues. I haven't seen many carried the way they are meant to, including by myself.
