With my first pregnancy in the early 80s, maternity clothes consisted mainly of oversized garments bedecked with ruffles, bows and ribbons. I seriously felt like an awkward Christmas present waiting to be unwrapped! I would have given anything to find maternity clothes that were more mainstream in style!

What fashion tips can you offer to expecting moms?

During my final pregnancy, in the late 90s, I shopped the men's department for lightweight cotton denim shirts; they were way cooler in the summer months than the synthetic blends most of the maternity clothes were made of and a whole lot less expensive. ;-)

Oooo! If you're pregnant and have been putting off shopping for a bathing suit, check out this selection of swimwear. Enjoy the summer and some pool time!
