Flats with formal dress

I have a sorority formal coming up in a few weeks and need to start shopping for my dress. This is the first formal my boyfriend and I have been able to go to together. I'm excited that we get to go together, but I'm unsure what style of dress I should look for due to my shoe situation.

My boyfriend is 5'8" and I'm 5'9" so I'm taller than him to begin with and tower over him in heels. To make dancing less awkward and to make him feel less self conscious I was planning on wearing flat shoes, but what type of dress should I look for?

What style and length of dress should I go for? Girls wear everything from just above the knee to floor-length to this formal so that's not a concern. I just want to get some opinions on styles and lengths of formal dresses that can work well with flats. Thanks!

Hi!

I think a knee-length dress would be best with flats. Full-length to me might seem slightly off and unbalanced.

I'm sure you wanted to wear heels but's it very nice

~e,

I'm slightly taller then my husband also, about 2".
I hardly ever wear heels any more because I dont want hubby to feel awkward. It kinda sucks when you really want to wear heels such as to a formal event / my wedding. But we have to
