Help! Linen in winter?

Hi!

I'm going out to dinner at a Thai restaurant tonight to celebrate Chinese New Year (actually tomorrow, I think). Red is a good-luck color in the Chinese tradition. I have this beautiful, long red linen dress that would be really nice... but it's winter! Am I allowed to wear linen in winter? I live in the Pacific northwest, and today it's gorgeously sunny and temps in the 40's-50's (30's after sundown).

Please help!

I didn't know there was any rule regarding when to wear linen. I have a sister in law who wears it all year round. The dress sounds great, and Chris's suggestion works well, too.
