Help - need ideas for business casual

I am starting a new job as an executive assistant to the President of a national firm.

Its a great job, but the dress code is business casual and I've seen people walking around in jeans! I have mostly business formal clothes (suits, skirts, etc). What can I do to blend in without looking to dressy and spending too much money on casual clothes?

I want to fit in...I think nice slacks with a cardigan and loafers would be a good casual look in a preppy kind of way...I just don't want other employees thinking badly of me if I am too dressed up for the atmosphere :(

Its bad enough that I have to sit upstairs with all the executives...I don't want others to get the impression that I think

Hi,

Business casual is great, but can be tricky. Are there written guidlines? What does your boss wear? I have many skirts and suits also. My job is business casual, but no jeans are allowed, unless there is a special dress down day. Yes, a nice pair of slacks with loafers and a cardigan would be good. Actually, a nice pair of dressy jeans would be good with a cardiagan and loafers!

Good luck!

Hi! Sounds like a great job! Better to be safe than sorry. I would dress similar to the people you'll be working around. If that's around executives, I would dress like an executive. Your position

Hello and welcome!

I also work in a business casual workplace, where the executive assistant to the president happens to be someone whose style I very much admire. She often incorporates casual blazers/jackets with slacks/skirts, usually with a soft-colored top and fashion jewelry. It definitely meets the dress code and it catches your attention in the right way! :)
