sexy but comfortable shoes?

Hi everyone! Just a little background - my name is Kate, I'm 23 years old and I do TV Broadcasting. I am heading next week to the National Association of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas, where my main job will be to stand at my company's booth and look pretty and get people to come talk to us. It sounded like fun until I realized that I will be on my feet for 9 hours straight every day (no lunch break) and I'm supposed to wear slightly sexy business formal clothes - i.e. suits with short skirts, fitted slacks, etc.

I am trying to figure out how I can possibly look attractive and yet find heels that won't kill my feet at the same time. With pants I can probably swing it by wearing my tried-and-true black boots, but what about with a skirt? Does anybody know of any comfortable shoes that actually look sexy? Or any tips to make your shoes not hurt your feet when standing for a long time? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Kate

Hi Kate!

Congratulations on your opportunity and good luck at the convention! In the situation you have described, I do think the fitted slacks option is most amenable to both personal style/comfort and footwear choices. However, should you decide on a skirt, it might just be best to grin and bear it and go for the most attractive pair of shoes you can find. While uncomfortable, you will at least have the satisfaction of knowing you look your best...and after all, even sneakers will eventually become uncomfortable when you're on your feet for an entire day! (LOL)

Since you'll be standing behind a table, you may be able to occasionally prop yourself up by the hands and take turns lifting your feet off the floor for a minute or two to relieve the pressure on your heels. I periodically work vendor tables as well, and it will likely have a cloth or partition in the front that will prevent others from seeing you shift your feet. If the situation permits, you may be able to take time to sit down and talk with the people you meet, which should help too.

Finally, I'm in the Philly suburbs too - so I feel pretty confident in suggesting that you can find plenty of good possibilities at the KoP mall if need be. In fact, any excuse to go shopping tends to be a good one! ;)

Have a great day,

Flats are really popular this season, you can find them in all kinds of styles you should be able to find someting on the sexy side that will go with a skirt, also many women swear by those gel insert things you get at the drugstore for shoes that are not so kind to the feet. Just something to consider, have fun in vegas!

I wear gell inserts in some of my fancier shoes...believe me they do the trick. They will make your feet feel great. Last year I wore gell inserts with high heel boots to an Alabama (country western) concert. I have to say I was afraid my heels were going to give out before my feet did! Congrats on your new job. Congrats on your position!

I would wear pants if I were you but dress them up.

Gel inserts are the key to wearing high heels all day... that's what I do and they work well.

With pants, you can wear a high heeled boot... go with a little broader of a heel for better balance and a tapered toe for a more sophisticated look.

Also, with pants you could go lower on the heel height. You could wear 2" heels with a pointy toe and wear your pants long so they cover your shoes. Pointy toes peeking out beneath long pants is a sexy look.

Have a great time!
