Okay, I'm confused. It used to be if I wanted to buy a new pair of pants I knew what size to get. I used to be

Personally, I don't buy from any online site that doesn't offer a sizing chart. It can be confusing even with one... without one, it's a total crapshoot!

The first time I saw pants sized that way was in a brick and mortar, walk in store. It's bad enough there is no standard sizing for women, now they are making it worse!

There has never been any industry standard for clothing sizing though it's an industry that probably needs standards as much or more than any other!

The site you are talking about is probably either using some kind of mysterious European sizing or is sizing by inches around the waist.

This is also a brick and mortar store, Catherine's to be exact, which is a sister store to Lane Bryant. The woman that was working wasn't quite sure what the sizes would be in what we consider "normal" sizing.
