I am dying for a new pair of jeans and am thinking of buying some Destroyed Jeans from either Abercrombie & Fitch or BeBe. I am 36 years old a Size 2 and a mom to a 22 Month. That being said, my older sister told me I am too old to be wearing jeans with holes in them. Boo Hoo, is it true? Any thoughts or advice?

To be honest, I think that once you're into your 30's, jeans with holes are probably not the best idea. You can still buy great trendy jeans that flatter your figure though.

Personally, I don't see a problem. Especially if you have the body for it, which it sounds like you do. I am 31, and a size 2, and have 2 pairs of distressed jeans that have frayed holes in them. I love them. It's all in what looks good on you. I will never dress my age just because someone tells me to. I wear what looks good on my body, and what I like.

I don't see why people associate clothes with age. That is why women feel "old" at 40 because they "make" themselves feel old. I am 34 years old and would definately wear the jeans. I have 2 kids and proud to be a mom but also proud to be a woman. Alot of moms forget their own identity after they have kids. Just because you have children, you are not dead! No, you don't have to wear half shirts and mini skirts, but there is NOTHING wrong with wearing jeans that show off your figure.

If you really want to wear jeans with holes in them then go for it. I've never personally thought they looked all that great

I, personally, feel that when we reach a certain age, we should dress more classy and sophisticated and wearing distressed jeans over the age of say, 23 or perhaps 25, isn't really appropriate anymore.

I maybe the wrong one to comment here as at 51 I still wear skirts above my knee, leather skirts, and leather jeans. No not minis but probably too short in most people's eyes for a woman of 51 but they make my SO happy and I don't look that bad so why not? As for age it is only a way of keeping score so do not ever let your age determine what you wear but rather how you look, feel, what makes you feel good about yourself and your SO.

As for jeans with holes I always thought that may be one of the dumbest fashion trends ever! Believe me if that is what you want and you are a size 12, call me I have more than a couple pair of holey, distressed jeans I would happily sell you for 10% less than the designers charge and the paint spatters and stains are thrown in at no charge!

Hi there!

First of all - cudos to you for being in your 30's, having a small baby, and still be fitting into a size 2!

I'm in my 20's right now and I don't think there's anything wrong with women in their 30's + to be wearing what is in fashion. I think it's all about moderation and to what extreme you take it. If I were you, I wouldn't buy a pair with alot of holes or that are distressed everywhere. Silver makes some good low rise ones that are just a little frayed around the pockets and distressed around the hips -they're still really hip and sexy, but not too over the top. As long as you can wear them without "trying to look young", I say go for it!

Wear what makes you feel good and happy first and most importantly. I'm so sick and tired of people saying there's a certain way you are supposed to dress because you are a mom or are of a certain age. Being a mom, I know this to be true. After devoting so much time and energy to my kid, I know understand why it so necessary to do something for myself for a change. The one thing I do for myself is I dress the way I want to dress b/c if I'm not happy, no one is. Anyway, since you are also the one with the money, no one can tell you how to spend it; not even your sister:)
