My brother is getting married next month (afternoon ceremony) and I will be in some of the formal wedding pictures but am not in the wedding party.

Welcome Spindler.

Why couldn't you wear red?

I agree with Chris, why can't you wear red, or a shade of red? I've never heard it was bad taste to wear red to a wedding, and in the Chinese culture red is the color of the wedding dress. I can see being iffy on wearing blue, but if you have something red that you want to wear, go for it.

Have a great time at the wedding!

I had dismissed wearing red because a) I'll be in pictures w/ members of the wedding party and wasn't sure how red would do in pictures (if I'd stick out too much or if I'd clash, that kind of thing) and b) because I'd been told once you shouldn't and c) seen/heard a family member get a lot of grief for wearing red at a prior wedding (looking to avoid that myself).

I'm plus sized and have an extrodinarily hard time finding dresses that are flattering on my body shape (they do exist, but are hard to come by). The couple of really nice and flattering dresses I've actually come across have been black and royal blue. The blouse I'm considering is plum but like I said had kind of hoped to be able to wear a dress.

I figured if worst
