What to wear for pictures....

I am doing a mom and me photo shoot next week. All white is often suggested, but I never really liked that look. But I am kinda coming around to it now. So, it will be me and my two boys, age 5 and (almost!)9. The older boy has kind of light brown hair, the 5 yr old is light blonde; I'm medium blonde and we are all fair complected, especially since we're coming out of winter (no tans). Here are my ideas, please let me know what you think.

We all wear white: them polos and me, I have a nice, white sweater set.

We all wear white shirts, but I wear a medium pink sweater (it is open on the front, ties at the waist, so a lot of my white shirt would still show. I was thinking of taking some tulips from my yard that are the same pink as the sweater. I thought a cute picture would be the boys 'giving' me flowers.

But I am wondering if that is too 'plain' or we will look washed out with all that white and a white background. How would it be if one or both of them wore a blue polo? Or one light blue, one royal blue?

And I think we will all wear khakis. The other choice is dark denim.

That sounds like a lot of white, especially if the background is white. I agree, it would be better with colors for you and the boys. Soft reds, blues, something. Then again I think it's a brave person who dresses boys in white. You KNOW they aren't going to make it out the door and still be all white. At least most boys I know wouldn't (that includes the adult ones).

Thanks for the input; too much white is what I was thinking. I guess it is supposed to emphasize innocence or something?

OK, so, I don't have time to go buy anything new in red. I had considered red, white and blue (one in each). I really want to wear the pink, so would reds blend or compete with that? What about one red, one blue, me pink? Doesn't sound right. Of if they were both in red; and it would be something like Lands End red (or Target) since those would be my choices for last minute. I have a royal blue blouse I Could wear, but it's not my first choice.

Argh! good thing this doesn't happen every day because I make myself crazy trying to find just the right thing. I just went through this at easter (they ended up wearing blue dress shirts and the only picture that turned out well, they were looking down at the animals!) Also, they will be doing a Dad and Me shoot in June so I'd like to use the same shirts (and it would almost look like family pictures!) Dad will definitely be wearing black, navy or possibly green- the only colors he'll ever wear.

It sounds like the pink top is the one you would prefer to wear, so any other choice could make you unhappy with the pictures, regardless of how well they turn out.

I agree that you should go with pink...it's a beautiful color and stands out in any picture.
