Yoga Pants in Public?

It seems to be a trend where I live- every single place I go I see ladies wearing yoga pants.  I see them at the mall, the grocery store, the library... really everywhere!  Yoga pants seem to have become the new mommy uniform in my area.  How do you feel about wearing yoga pants in public?  Do you do it?  Think it is a trend that should stop?

This is a trend that started a couple of years ago and my husband likes for me to go with the look every so often.  These days it's more the spandex leggings than yoga pants around here.  The only problem I see with wearing them is if you might be a little heavy and then it's not flattering.

I love my yoga pants, but they aren't tight, mine are bootcut. I have to agree with the lady that said it's not about how much time you spend as much as what you wear. I also agree that there is no reason to wear inappropriate clothing in public. I keep trying to convince my daughter that the pajama bottom look is NOT something that should be worn anywhere but at home. I try to always look nice, I had a job interview last week where I was told that they didn't dress up. Granted I get that, it was a garbage removal company, but it was almost like I shoudln't have dressed nicely for the interview.

Well, mostly I don't pay attention to what other people are wearing because it drags me down mentally to start nitpicking other people's outfits.  I do notice when people look particularly stylish though - I love seeing a stylish person!

Having said that, I do wonder why people dress so badly so much of the time.  "It's comfortable" really isn't an excuse for wearing unflattering clothes. I hate seeing clothes that don't fit, that aren't suitable, or that just should never be worn outside the house (I can never quite believe it when I see anyone over the age of 3 wearing pajamas outside the house).

I've always felt this way - I remember badgering my mother when I was 10 to dress better when she left the house.  She did eventually take my advice, and at her funeral almost everyone commented on how perfectly turned out she always looked - and she could get herself out of the house in 15 minutes with no problem, so it isn't always about how much time you spend - it's about whether you think it's worth it to look good.

So do I wish the yoga pant craze would go away?  What I really wish is that people cared more about looking decent, whether that's wearing jeans if they'd look better on you than yoga pants, or yoga pants if they'd look better on you than jeans.

Personally I wear them at home at the end of a day if my pants are uncomfortable.  I have a lot of digestive problems and sometimes my abdomen swells up and the only thing I can manage to wear is yoga pants.  But never in public.

They do not bother me. Then again, very little of what others wear bothers me anyway. It isn't me, you know? I see a lot of people wear jeans that are far too tight but it is not something I really give much thought to. I personally love yoga pants. They are comfortable and great for running errands. I would not wear them to a client meeting but for daily wear, working at home, shopping, etc., they are fine. No real reason why not?

You know, it doesn't bother me when other people wear them, but I don't wear them in public.  I just don't feel comfortable enough to wear skin-tight clothing!  I do wear them at home, though, but always change into something else if I have to leave the house.
