Have you relaxed and colored?

Has anyone highlighted their hair with relaxed tresses? I have relaxed hair and I am trying to find products that work along with relaxed hair for highlighting. I don't want to lighten my hair to much. My hair is very, very brown almost black (but without the deep, shiny look of black hair).

I also have dark, deep brown eyes. Someone told me that women with dark eyes should have dark hair (Their example of this was Oprah). I'm not Oprah's age, so I think if I add any color to my hair, I would either dye it a rich brown, but summer is around the corner. Or add some reddish or copper highlights.

So does anyone know of any products that highlight dark, relaxed hair? Your suggestions would be appreciated.

The problem with relaxed hair is that it is very sensitive. When you go to highlight it it might turn out a little lighter than you want. The best thing to do is to wait about 2 weeks after relaxing it. Make sure you hair is in a healthy condition. Most highlighters out there today are fairly mild so which ever brand has the color of your choice you should be able to use. I would not leave it on as long as the product says because with your hair being relaxed it will take a lot faster. If you are still a little unsure about it the best thing to do would be to talk to your stylist.

Hi Casey,

Thanks for your tips. Right now, I don't have a stylist because I can't afford one, but I want to highlight my hair myself. I'll let you know how it goes after I get more information on products to use on my hair. Thanks again.
