All-over bleached hair; healthy hair question

My hair is naturally medium/dark brown (level 3-4) with auburn undertones which resists lifting. For the last 13 years, my whole head of long hair has been professionally bleached, with a #10 neutral non-reactive toner.

Hi, suzanne_akita. I don't know too much about bleaching hair (I will definitely research and find out for ya), but I do have some tips on hair maintenance for those who dye their hair all the time. I do that, too, and as a result, my hair started to become very thin and brittle. So here are some quick tips that might put life back into your hair as you're still getting your dye jobs:

* Try Wen Pomegranate Cleansing Conditioner (http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/view.2/app.detail/params.item.A212497.desc.WEN-by-Chaz-Dean-Pomegranate-16-oz-Cleansing-Conditioner)... It is my hero! Instead of using your regular shampoo, use this -- nothing else. Shampoo it in, let it sit for a bit, then rinse it out, but not completely. Leave a little bit of it in -- very little -- as if it's a leave-in conditioner. It's natural, and I promise it will make your hair smooth and soft!

* Take baths, not showers. The minute I started to take baths, my hair became softer and silkier. Maybe it's because I don't completely rinse the conditioner out of my hair and if it stays in, it gives me more moisture, but it has helped!

* Don't use a curling iron, straightener or even hair dryer! Heat does not do a hair any good. Try it for a week -- just let your hair air dry. Okay, this might be hard, styling-wise, but here's my trick... I wash my hair, then I do chores around the house. Once my hair is dry, I twist my hair into a bun. I let it out after an hour or so, and voila -- it's set, wavy, and gorgeous!

I hope these help!

Thanks, I've always washed my hair in cool water, use a conditioner of course, and never use hair appliances or even blow dryers.

Thanks, that was very interesting and informative. I don't have any different base color or foil color, because it's just the same color on my whole head of hair (which, for some reason, freaks some hair dressers out). But he only puts the bleach on the roots of course, and tries not to overlap.

It sounds like that considering you are bleaching, you are taking care as well as you can.
