Before you commit to buying your new go-to nail polish color of the season, see which ones stayed shiny and chip-free in the Good Housekeeping test.

I noticed that they tested the colors without either base or top coat.  Since I would never go without either - I need base to create a smooth surface and I want the shine/protection of a top coat - my opinions vary.

I find OPI to be the best chip-free polish, which is why I gave up Revlon & L'oreal years ago.  Butter London is a close second (plus the colors are great!).  Essie is a distant third, IMO.  Haven't tried the others.

I have to agree with you. I never put on nail polish without the base/topcoat.  IMO I think OPI is the best, Sally Hansen is good too - both of these have been good to me as far as chip-free and lasting long. My manicures last at the most 7 days which I think is good but it could be because of the base/topcoat and I always use rubber gloves - LOL

I've never used Essie - don't like the colors. Revlon or brand likes that I've never tried. I'm just a sucker for OPI and Sally.
