Good salon in OC, Cal?

Can anyone recommend a good nail salon for acrylics in Orange County? I'm willing to pay a bit more for quality. I've tried all the chain places and can't get consistant results, even if I go to the same girl. Also have a problem with communication, as some of the girls speak very little English.

Hi OCGIRLIE! Here are 2 resources you can try. The first is a Expert Service Finder on iVillage. It's fairly new, so I don't know how resourceful you will find it. I really hope it's taken off because it's a wonderful idea.

Here's the link: http://www.substance.com/es/sf/

Also, you can go to http://www.creativenail.com/finda_salon/domestic_search.html and find a Creative Nail Design Master Nail Professional in your area.

If you happen to find a Nail Professional on either one of these websites, I highly recommend asking the nail professionals important questions that you want to know BEFORE you make an appointment. Don't ever assume that their work is going to be exactly what you are looking for because you found them on either site. I do however think both sites can surely guide you in the right direction.

Let me know if you have any other questions and how your search goes.

Good Luck!

Hi OCGirlie

Goddess gave you an awesome link ... GREAT site.

Now, another suggestion is to look around at other women's nails and when you see a nice set, ask them where they go. Just keep asking. Somewhere along the line, you'll keep hearing the same name come up a few times and then you'll know to visit that salon.

Also, Day spas are usually very particular about who they hire too. Have you checked out a day spa that offers nail services?

Thanks! I did look on the service finder, but there's nothing close to my area. The closest salon is a half hour drive or more. I'll check out the Creatives site. Do you know of any sites that show different examples of acrylics? I would love to take a picture in. I don't usually see any I like on people close to where I live. Girls here seem to prefer their nails thicker and less natural looking than I like.

Sorry you didn't have any luck on the service finder. Like I said, I wish more people would post their favorite salons on that site because it's really neat and would be so beneficial for so many people.

Have you had a chance to look on Creative's site yet? Just curious to know if you found anything on their site.

As for pictures of enhancements, I don't know of a site but, maybe my2scents does. It seems like, but not always, that the nails applied at discount shops are always way thicker than what you would see in a nice salon or Day Spa. You could always make an appointment and have one nail applied by a nail professional to see whether or not you like their work. That way you wouldn't spend so much $money$ on a full set that you hated. Just a suggestion.

Keep us updated and let us know if you have any other questions.

I did find a couple people- one right down the street! I'm going to see if I can make an appointment. Perhaps I can go a bit early and see how the person before me turns out. One nail's not a bad idea!

Oh good! I'm glad there's someone just right down the street from you. I think going a bit early or even calling and asking the nail professional if you could come by when she's finishing up with an enhancement client to see her clients nails is a wonderful idea. I know I wouldn't mind you coming by to check out my work even before you made an appt.

Keep us posted!
