Coconut oil on your skin?
Thu, 03-21-2013 - 11:20am

I've been reading a lot about how good coconut oil can be- on the inside and the outside of your body.  I use it to cook with quite often but have never thought to use it on my skin. Does anyone here use it on your skin?  I have quite sensitive skin and I'm a bit worried about breakouts.  What's your experience been like? Did your skin breakout at all?

Coconut oil has so many great uses, doesn't it? I've actually never used it on my skin but I've been really intrigued by it too.  Has anyone here tried it on your skin? We would love to hear your thoughts if so!

Here's an iVillage article about the many (many!) uses of coconut oil for your body.  So many options to try! If you try any, let us know what you think!

Hi there! Coconut oil is one of the best natural plant oils to use on your skin, especially if you have sensitive skin. It is naturally antibacterial and is light enough that it doesn't clog your pores. The cosmetic industry has convinced people that oil is bad, but the reality is that petrochemical and chemically-manipulated oils are bad for your skin. Natural plant oils are packed with nutrients that help to nourish and heal your skin. If you find that the coconut oil works but doesn't quite give you everything you want, I have a small business making organic skin care products called Sustainable Shanti. My daily facial moisturizer, Saving Face Salve, is based with coconut oil and is excellent for sensitive skin. You can find more information at or read customer reviews at Be well, Emily
