Winter & Dry Skin

Whenever I write about this topic for magazines and interview derms for their winter dry-skin tips, the biggest thing they mention is: Stop taking long hot showers! I know, this advice is not what any of us want to hear, seeing as long hot showers are one of the most soothing things in the known universe, especially in the winter. But their effect is devastating for skin—all that hot steam sucks the natural moisture right out of your skin.

Your best bet: Keep your shower water as lukewarm as you can tolerate and keep the process as brief as you can. You’ll find you won’t be as desperate for lotion afterward, although you should still apply some as soon as you step out of the shower, while your skin is still a bit damp.

Man!  I love taking long hot showers- especially in the winter when I'm so cold!  Are you struggling with dry skin right now?  What have you found that helps?

I recommend Neutrogena and Carmex - my number one!

Recently I discovered the benefits that Vitamin C can give to the skin. So I tried a serum called Triple Action Vitamin C Serum by VoilaVe because the harsh winter had made my skin extremely dry. I was a little nervous because I have really sensitive skin, but I was pleased with the results. I found that it dried quickly and was not sticky at all when it's dry. My skin felt instantly softer and the product has a light clean scent. After using it for a couple nights, my skin was more hydrated and softer. I would definitely recommend this product to others who have similar skin problems. You can look it up on Amazon.
