Anyone else feel like their home is just... empty after the holidays?  I love the warm feeling that comes with the tree and lights and all the decorations.  I miss it come January when I take it all down.  Anyone else?

I know what you mean. . . but after a day or so, I'm relieved that all the clutter is gone.  I kind of reconsider the "ordinary" objects as I restore them to their places, remember where they came from and why I like them - or if I decide I don't like them as much now, I find another place for them or decide to give them away.  Clearing away the Christmas stuff also lets me see the furniture more clearly, especially the Craftsman-style fireplace wall we had built three years ago.  When it's not covered with garlands and decorations, you can see the quality of the carpenter's workmanship, which is what the Arts & Craft movement was all about.

Yep, I feel this way a lot too. I love all the coziness of the holidays and I miss it when it is gone. I do find that I like the clutter being gone, though. Usually around January I get the itch to start deep cleaning the house.
