I'm Julia in Upstate New York.
On the 1st it was the Victorian stroll in the next village over by day and I saw Ira Glass giving a talk on Reinventing Radio and "This American Life," an hour away. Got my bookclub meeting tonight, for which I'm making fancy oatmeal cookies. Hanuka starts 12/8 and we're having a Hanuka party 12/15. I'll be invited to a Christmas eve party by a friend, I hope.
We'll go see "The Hobbit" at a movie theater and do our traditional "The Lord of the Rings" extremely extended viewing over Christmas break.
Hello to everyone. I am Melissa from Virginia. I have a 12 yr wedding anniversary on New Years Eve - and of course Christmas...today.
Sorry I have been MIA for a few months....Besides having some major issues with logging into the new boards and working my way around them....My biggest thing lately (and this will be keeping me from visiting the boards often in the future)......my mother was diagnosed unexpectedly at the end of October with Stage 4 Metastatic Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma that is inoperable and has already spread to her liver. We were at an appt 12-24 and after 4 weeks of chemo, it is not working at all. She has decided not to try a different chemo cocktail and she only has weeks to months left.
I miss all of you - but at this time I really have no time for my computer. What little reading time I can find (when I am not sleeping those very few hours a night) is being spent on my bible and books on caregiving and cancer support.
I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season.
I know that you might not see this message for some time, but I'm sending my best wishes to you, your mother, and your entire family. I hope that you all find strength, peace, and hope at this difficult time.
