Hi everyone! Having read the previous thread about reading challenges, Ellen, Bev and I have been talking and we've come up with an idea we'd like to run past all of you. We recently started doing group reads and they are a lot of fun but we realize not everyone on the board may be interested in the genre selected at the time, while others may be pressed for time and not able to fit that type of challenge into their schedule. So, we were thinking...

We could create a Reading Challenges folder and have

This sounds like a great idea having it all in one folder. I think that it was on the Fiction Lovers board that we did this and a Christmas bookmark exchange each year. I'll check and see if I still have my book with some of the other challenges that we did. I'm sure there are others that will remember some of them as well.

I love the idea! I'd join several of them, I think. But I couldn't do a 100 book challenge. That would just be too many for my old eyes to do.

1.I've got a new to me A-Z authors challenge for this year, plus

2. Graphic novels

3. Science fiction

4. New books

5. TBR books

6. Book groups books

7. Re-reads

8. Classics

9. Local books

and probably another category or two. Many books get listed in more than one category... But yeah, IMO how much one reads and in what categories,

Hi Brenda! Nice to see you, I don't see you enough these days... ;O(
I think this is a wonderful idea. SUPER! I wanted to take part in The Help challenge but just couldn't at the time it was happening. BOTM choices are difficult as like you said, time, energy, book on hand or not all come into play.
I especially like some of the ideas that RUTH suggested. (3 classics).
Also 3 non fiction , and all else that she said. We could also add 3 Foreign authors . (translations OK if not able to read in original) .
We can just add on when we come up with a new reading topic .

Hi Ruth, I like your suggestions... so I'm asking: what are the genre and what's in a name challenges?

What’s in a Name Challenge

*A book with food in its title….

*A book with a number in the title…

*A book with a person's name in the title

*A book with a season in the title

*A book with a one-word title.

*A book with a holiday in the title

Thanks, Kathie! I'm hoping that with a folder specifically for reading challenges, we can offer something for everyone... and everyone should feel comfortable in starting their own interest-specific challenges, too! :smileywink:
