Does anyone here belong to an IRL book club? How did you find it? How long have you been a participant?

I've actually been wanting to join one but haven't found one local. ::pout:: I absolutely adore reading and wish I had people to discuss books with while getting out of the house (and away from the kids! LOL). Anyone have any suggestions on how to locate one? (I tried the BN.com website, but my local BN doesn't have a group.)

I don't belong to one- but wish I did!  I think it would be a lot of fun.  Have you checked out your local library?  I know that the one in our area has a book club.  It might be something to check out?

I too am interested in joining one but don't know how to find one in real life.

Our library also has book clubs at different branches, and provides a "book club in a bag" for people who want to start their own clubs. I don't belong to one, but the option is there.

Thanks, everyone! I'm definitely going to check out my library, once I find it! I've never really been able to locate since we moved here. It's in the back roads and I'm a nervous driver when I don't know where I'm going. But I wonder if they list it on their website.

My library has a book group that I go to when I can.

My friends and I started a book group outside the library at our homes. We call ourselves the Messy Housekeepers BC because we shouldn't have to clean our homes to have our friends over. We are more a group of friends who meet to talk about a book, because we want our friends to come who haven't yet read/ finished the book. I always try to make something that the characters in the book eat or might have eaten. Last week we discussed The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. We met at my house, I made fruit pizza, because two characters in the book go out for pizza. I also made zucchini bread, because I had/ have a tremendous amount of zucchini.

Besides your library, really, you haven't found it yet? So much of my life seems conducted at the Library! Also check out independent book sellers for a book group, if you have one of those.

Nope, I haven't found it. I haven't exactly looked hard, but I know the general area. It's in the more rural part of the town, which I haven't navigated. Coming from NYC, they are much easier to locate!

Your group sounds like fun!!
