2011 will be a year to remember for me so far.......I doubt my 11th wedding anniversary on New Year's Eve will be remarkable except that this is the longest marriage for both me and DH - even if you add the years together from the previous ones (we are both on our 2nd AND last!!!).
For this year.....
** I have read more books in a year than ever before - THANK YOU IVILLAGE READ-A-THON
** I became an iVillage Community Leader - AND I AM ENJOYING IT and looking forward to 2012
** I joined 2 local book clubs - I have never ever in my lifetime participated in a book club and I love my bookie friends!!!
** After 2 years of being unemployed and at the end of unemployment benefits, I was finally hired at the very end of October as a school bus driver (that took almost a month of unpaid training first and then waiting almost 2 more weeks to take the DMV CDL test due to DMV delays).
Melissa... First, an early congratulations on your 11th wedding anniversary!
Wow... Reading your list makes me SO happy for you! I love that our little community has played such a role in making this year a memorable one for you and I'm ecstatic that you snagged that contract... What a rocking way to end 2011 and usher in a brand new year! Definitely celebration time!
I so know what you mean about the joy of a new baby/grandbaby; nothing in the world compares to that wonderful feeling of welcome a new precious bundle into our hearts! Don't you just adore being a grandmother?
It's so awesome that you had a great reunion with your cousins; it can be so difficult to get together like we seemed to do so often as kids...and sometimes, we just plain need to reconnect! Here's hoping that you can all do it again in 2012 and many more years to come!
I'm so glad you recovered in time to enjoy some of your Christmas holiday! Reading about the accident your son and his girlfriend walked away from... wow! Definitely cause for giving thanks to God. Its sobering just how quickly things can happen, especially auto accidents.
My nephew went through a sad breakup with his girlfriend earlier this year, too, for much the same reason. It's really hard to see our loved ones going through such an emotional upheaval, isn't it? But, that's part of life; as much as we'd like to shield them from the hurt, it makes them stronger in the end.
Here's hoping 2012 will be a good year for all... The Mayan calendar "end of the world" predication is something I'm just not going to think about! LOL If that's burying my head in the sand, then just call me ostrich! :smileylol:
2011 has been a great year personally, especially with family and friends. I'm a little worried about the my mother's alzheimer's, but i am hopeful we can make it through.
I found a great message of compassion and advice on the other day. Anyone with a parent with alzheimer's should check it out

I just read through the others replies and I have nothing so exciting to report for 2011.
