do any of you have any of these? i was given money to buy a kindle while i was in texas. i have a couple of questions though, do you have to purchase books like from amazon for the kindle or barnes and noble for the nook? i was wondering if they would take any of the free ebooks that are on other sites. also, is it hard to download the books?

thanks

Ellen,

I'm not an expert but I think that with the kindle you have to get Amazon books. They apparently don't support library downloads as far as I can figure out which other e-readers have the capability to do . It is really easy to download books onto the kindle. You can download it right from the kindle itself or onto your kindle

Hi, Ellen....I got a kindle about 2 months ago and it is wonderful....mostly the books come from Amazon.....you can get them from other sites but they need to be reformatted....Haven't tried it yet...There are lots of free sites for kindle books.....I can post the links...I also signed up for emails...to notify me when some of these sites have new free ones....Kindle is easy to read and easy to handle....love mine!!Eager to hear what you choose and how you like it!

Hello everyone! I have found my way back to the group. I have struggled the last while with some eye issues that has kept me away from computers in general.

I have a Sony Ereader which works great for me as my library supports this system. I have also found many free sites to download books from. I will never be without books.

Ellen you will love a kindle.

Hi...Haven't reformatted any books....I get them from Amazon in kindle format....Think you need to download Calibre program....just haven't needed to yet...

There are lots of Web sites out there for books and other info....Try these:

www.facebook.com/kindle

www.dailycheapreads.com

www.booksontheknob.blogspot.com

This is a good place for questions and reformatting questions....
