Bestselling Irish author Maeve Binchy, one of Ireland’s most popular writers who sold more than 40 million books worldwide, has died in Dublin after a brief illness, Irish media and national leaders said. She was 72 years old.

Such sad news; she has been one of my favorite authors since Light a Penny Candle... My sister and I go to the library together and when a new Maeve Binchy book was available, we'd tussle over who got it! Tara Road, Scarlet Feather, Quentins.... She really brought those characters to life. I'm so going to miss her.

OH MY!!!!  How awful.....What are we going to do?  I absolutely loved her.  I am the same way - grab the book as soon as she put one out.

Her last book, Week in Winter, is set to be released in October. It's going to be bittersweet to read it, knowing that she won't be penning any more.

I also always look forward to a new Binchy book. I'm on the wait list at the library for her book, A Week in Winter that is to come out in October. It's  so sad that it will be her last book.

Such sad news; she was a wonderful author. I didn't realize she'd written 16 novels; I'm going to have to go on the hunt for the ones I've overlooked.

Hi CM Brenda... nice to see . This is sad news, she is one of my all time favorite authors, her storytelling skills were fabulous. My favorite book of hers and the first one I read by her was The Copper Beech,,,, which I will re read in her honor this month.
