Just this morning, I finished The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey.  Everyone needs to read this enchanting novel.  It is taken from a Russian fairy tale for children.  The author mixes in her own experiences, lessons and emotions accumulated during her entire life spent living in Alaska.  I know in my heart of hearts I have discovered a kindred soul.  It was like reading about my own feelings and awe with the natural world.  I would love to actually get a chance to meet the author some day.  I know we would become fast friends in a very short period of time if given a chance.  This is such a beautiful novel.  I hope everyone seeks it out.  It is definitely worth a 5 out of 5 star rating in my opinion.

Happy Reading!

I agree with Bev about _The Snow Child_. I think I read it as spring ended. I hate reading books about the cold when it's cold out-- it makes it feel colder! I'm pretty sure it'll be on my best of 2012 list... This past week I read an amazing book by Jo Walton called _Among Others_. I'll post review of it under discussions. It also will be on my best of 2012 list. I'm so happy I discovered Jo Walton this year! She's such a creative and inventive writer. I'm currently reading #150 for the year Jim Butcher's brand new _Cold Days_. It's #14 in his Harry Dresden series. Julia

I finished "Fury" by Salman Rushdie, and I'm now reading "Hand Me Down World" by Lloyd Jones. So far, I like it even more than  Jones's "Mister Pip".

I finished two books in the last while. I read Notorious Nineteen by Janet Evanovich. It was okay but not one of her best. I also finished The Scent of Rain and Lightning by Nancy Pickard which I really enjoyed. It kept me guessing. Next up is Corpse On The Cob by Sue Ann Jaffarian.

This morning I read Christmas Crumble by M.C. Beaton.  It was a short story featuring Agatha Raisin.  Not one of the best of her stories, but entertaining and a nice way to cheer up a dreary morning.  Now I have to go through my books and find another Christmas story.  I have several set aside on my Nook and on the Kindle app on my laptop.  Told Chris last night that maybe I need a Kindle, too.  I have an awful lot of Kindle books stored away on my computer.  You should have seen the look I got!  LOL!!
