What have/will you do with your hard copy books?

I have a nook and have really been getting books digitally for the past 3 years or so. That's not to say I haven't bought new ones. Series I love I always buy the hard copy. But 97% of the books I purchase are ebooks.

Of course I have a ton of books I've collected over the years. I never part with my books. But I am trying to declutter. What have you guys done? Have you donated? I'll admit my collection isn't exactly the cream of the crop in literature sense, and some books I won't part with (my HS copy of Gone With the Wind, my Harry Potter collection, the first book my husband gave me when we were dating — a Dean Koontz book - Fear Nothing). But still, hanging onto them when they have not had their spines stretched in years is wasteful. Would love some ideas.

Half Price Books.  Even if they only give you 25 cents per copy, that's 25 cents more than you had when you walked in.  They also buy VHS, dvd, albums & cd's.

Hi, thanks. I actually am on the east coast and there aren't any locations near me. Bummer. Maybe I'll look and see if there is someplace similar nearby.

Do you know about Paper Back Swap? It's a website. You put a list up of the books you want to get rid of, and another list of the books you want to acquire. All you pay for is the $2.53 it costs to send a book to someone else via USPS. You may be able to catch up with some of those series you do want.

I had bookshelves built on across two walls of my attic... As well as having many, many, many shelves that are movable. I am trying not to buy books. The books that I acquire to review I pass on to friends. Mostly I read libary books.

There's also Book Mooch, which I haven't tried, but many like.

My husband was so happy when I bought my Nook because he thought it meant the house would be purged of my hard copy books.  And I did cut back but there are some books that I love so much that I simply must have hard copies of them.  When I do go through my books to try and cut back, I usually give them to Goodwill or Salvation Army.
