Beneath a Meth Moon by Jacqueline Woodson 182 pages 1/5/13 pub 2012
Laurel’s Mom and beloved grandmother died in Hurricane Katrina, they’ve lost the house they loved in Pass Christian, Mississippi, and her Dad’s moved around for two years looking for work, while Laurel and her baby brother lived with cousins in Jackson. They’ve landed in Iowa, and Laurel’s got a meth habit. This slight heartbreaking novel isn’t told nearly as neatly as I just did it, but in tragic and touching bits and pieces.
