We've kept our July thread going for a while, but I thought a fresh one might be nice. Bring us new prayer requests, update old ones and share praises as well!

I'm going to start with a praise regarding Tim's latest appointment with the pediatrician. Even before giving Tim a quick physical exam, the doctor said we were making progress and to keep up the good work. When he felt Tim's stomach after he'd asked me some intro questions, he was impressed and said it was "remarkable" progress. Yay!

We still need to continue the daily laxatives until the next appt in three months. I admit there's some disappointment that this will go on for a long time, but the encouragement and compliments from the doc definitely helped. I pray there's no lasting dependence on laxatives, since there's a warning about that on one of the boxes. (He takes two different kinds of medication, one with breakfast and one with lunch.) And it's true that this is definitely helping finish up potty training, since he's learning the signals his body gives him about getting to the bathroom pronto!

Other praises:

- Ben's vocabulary is growing well, though for most words he's just got the beginning sound (and in that he's just a little behind Tim, the late talker). And I've learned to give a short daily nap in order to have a decent wake-up call - Ben is definitely a morning person like me!

- My mum had vertigo problems starting in late spring, but after a CT scan, the doctors determined she has inflammation in her inner ear. Definitely a better prognosis than mini-strokes as they'd feared. Whew! I think she'll be on medication and have stability exercises. (Must research online because the doc didn't give Mum a lot of info at the time, tsk tsk.)

Jennifer -

Probably a crazy question....but I have 2 degrees in healthcare and have worked in labs for over 25 years.

Im assuming he checked for diabetes and other stuff, he only wanted a sample of my urine not my blood. I get checked regularly for diabetes, it runs in my family...

I hate long waits to see doctors. This summer my mum had to wait weeks for a CT scan. (Meanwhile Tim's was considered more urgent and scheduled within days. I actually think the wait should have been similar for both cases.)

Hope September passes quickly!

Do you have to go through a long glucose test each time they do a diabetes check? I think those are awful and there should be a better way!

I was just mentioning to someone online that I much preferred the hypoglycemia testing because it was giving blood before breakfast and then an hour or so afterwards. Much easier!

Like I said - probably a crazy question but that is my first thought when I hear about someone with symptoms of urgency.
