Computer Issues :(

Couldn't load Windows tonight after the computer locked up. "Internal hard drive not found." Eek!!

Working right now and running a hard drive test after backing up lots of info and finding the info to call Dell Tech Support when there's time - tomorrow we have a movie date planned, so it might have to wait until evening.

In case I have to borrow Hubby's computer to post again at some point, know that I'm thinking of everyone and praying I won't be without my machine for long (and that the repairs won't cost me anything either).

I really enjoyed the movie. Thought it was good pacing where the book seemed slow at that point and the atmosphere came over perfectly. :)

I'm glad we went for a matinee showing 'cause it's $3 cheaper per person. Wow! Guess that shows you how few movies I've seen lately that the price is one of the top things on my mind. ;)

Mum said the boys were good and she didn't look worn out, so Ben must not have gotten into everything. LOL He slept on the way home, probably all played out. Tim looked pretty pleased to see us even though he was having a blast. I hope they both sleep well tonight after such an eventful day!

Finished with my Dell call and they expect the new drive should reach me in 2 business days. Yay! They'll call to talk me through anything I need help with, but I'm depending on Hubby to guide me through. I bet it's fairly simple, though, for the actual hardware installation and I'm pretty practiced at Windows installations. :)

I did a lot of backup last night and now I'm just going to prioritise with the massive amount of videos I've stored on the computer - with 500 GB of space, why burn to DVD? ;) But now I'm regretting that choice since there's so much to slog through. Haven't watched all of them either...

I'm so relieved I don't have to send away my shiny machine! ;)

I decided to run diagnostics tests before bed last night and left the machine running to do that when I was too sleepy to function. The hard drive failed one of the last tests and there's a message that "failure is imminent." Sigh I'll contact Dell as soon as I have time for a longer phone call and get their word on warranty. I may have to send the entire machine in, but I'll be hoping they'll say, "If you want to pop out the drive and send it to us, we'll ship you a fresh one." Not sure how that would affect a Windows install 'cause if I have to start with a blank drive, I think I only have recovery discs, but we'll see. Maybe in that case they send one with Windows installed?

Must get the boys cleaned and dressed after breakfast, then prepare for them to visit with my parents while Hubby and I go on a date to see the latest Harry Potter movie. (Yay, finally! LOL)

Looks like I may be sharing a laptop with Hubby for a bit. Maybe he'll be able to get the desktop running in the meantime - it shut down a couple weekends ago and won't start up again. Oy to all the computer problems we've had lately! I guess I'll have more time for reading, gift wrapping and purchasing, maybe some cross-stitch and jigsaw puzzles... But I'll miss the freedom of having my own machine to chat with everyone!

Hugs! Will be back as often as I can!
