Just bought mine today. 11.3 lb Butterball at 99 c/lb. :D

I'll have to figure out if Hubby wants any Christmas baking done Sunday and next week since we'll have to stock up on the necessary ingredients, plus I think we might attempt our first homemade pie crust on Christmas Day!

No turkey. My MIL makes spiral ham that is really very delicious!! One year I had turkey for Christmas. It was just too much turkey in such a short time frame between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I think growing up we had some sort of roast or maybe ham?? I really can't remember - that's bad.. can't remember LOL

Hi, Bluepen! I don't remember if I've seen you here before, so I wanted to officially welcome you to the board. Hope you can come back often and chat it up! Any favourite authors to recommend?

I love spiral ham! So yummy! My family tends to do ham or roast at Easter, with turkey at Thanksgiving (October for us in Canada) and Christmas. :)

I was hoping it was a good price! What do I know about meat and poultry? Well, more than when I got married 10 years ago, but still... ;)

Yeah, first time here. I saw your question/post on the main page layout. Have you seen the movie, No Greater Love? I saw it over this past weekend. If you have, what did you think of it? I found it to be too preachy and a bit brain-washed. I enjoyed the movie, Fireproof much better.

Haven't seen the newer movie, but I'll keep my eyes open for it. :) I thought Fireproof was all right, though I cringed when he destroyed the computer. ;)

My brothers are making dinner this year. They are making a ham dinner. I can't wait!

I bought ham recently and was thinking of making it with scalloped potatoes. Wonder if Hubby will want to do that for New Year's Day or get takeout for a lazy day...

We are not having a traditional dinner, but we have finger foods and salads and things. We are actually roasting a turkey because we are going to have turkey sandwiches. I could have turkey in the house ALL the time, I love it. They are only 68 cents a pound here!
